sourced!

The politics of this cartoon are with good intentions I’m assuming, but her initial reaction of shame and shock because he calls her fat, which god forbit a human be, pisses me off.  and THEN only after he rectifies the situation by asserting his obviously more valued opinion and approval of her, and offering his positive attention, does she go to her happy place. sigh of relief, the boy approves of my fat.
fuck. that.

Reblogged for the comments. Totally spot on.

Bolded. This is what was bugging me about this cartoon and why I kept ignoring it.

Why must people always pick apart things like this? Its cute. & a lot of people such as myself can relate to the feeling of anyone NOT JUST A BOY calling me fat. He likes fat chicks, end of fucking story, damn.

Your ignorance is astounding.
People “pick apart” misogynistic and fat shaming undertones because it’s something that happens in the real world and not just in art. The fact that you don’t care about how the artist seems to have (either consciously or unconsciously) put a man’s opinion of a woman’s body as the only thing that matters, doesn’t negate that tons of other people think that’s bullshit. You do not speak for all fat women. As you so said, end of fucking story, damn.

I really like this (not the comments, but the comic) because as a larger person, my automatic reaction would be to be ashamed and feel bad of someone calling me fat. But whenever my boyfriend tells me he likes my body the way it is it makes me feel so much better. There is nothing wrong with being larger or being smaller, but people really should understand that we all have our own reactions to being called a name! And just because she seems to “need” approval, doesn’t mean that is a bad thing. We all need different things and sometimes people need the approval of others. It might not be a good thing, but it is something that some people need.

why develop feelings for people when you can just walk into traffic and achieve the same results
